With all the scoreboard watching and goaltender changes not much has been said about Couts scoring woes. He has had very few goals in the second half. Though TK and G have scored a lot. Would be nice if he had a couple tomorrow.

G-Coots-Konec
Lind-Patrick-Voracek
Raffl-Laughton-Simmonds
Weal-Lehtera-Read (see barely any icetime)

Hagg in for one of the turd twins on the 3rd pair.

I'm going to miss the game due to work, just going to imagine thats the lineup they will be playing.

Seems Hagg is doomed to not see the ice again this season unless there is an injury and we shall all wonder why Konecny isn't scoring - with less minutes playing alongside Fil/Simmonds. Can one of you in the region plant some coke on Varsity?

They will, and it will be Giroux to lead them. I truly believe that. Talent will overcome incompetence.

What a season he has had!

I have posted a lot less this year because I honestly have wanted to enjoy watching them play and develop, and enjoy his season, without fighting on the boards and disrupting my enjoyment of it.

His season...this isn't a definitive list for anyone else, but I think overall, I haven't enjoyed an individual season like his since Forsberg in 2005-06, and Forsberg missed a chunk of games that year

Take out Giroux and they dont even sniff the playoffs. He has put them on his back this year like years past. A bit more help for sure, but this team goes as G goes.

Know what else? I think they can easily be better next year, even if Giroux (likely) regresses to between 65-80 points

They could lowball Read if they chose and keep him -- maybe 850K on a one-year, take it or leave it -- and use those savings to get a real roster player to push Weise down to the AHL, which gives you what almost has to be a better fourth line of Read-Laughton-Effective Player

Then you let Flip walk and use that money to get a younger, faster, grinding legit 3C in here, which makes that third line better, whether you keep Simmonds or not

Then you use the savings from Read/Flip, plus what you get from burying Weise or Lehtera in the minors, to bring in a legitimate defenseman who is better than Manning or even Gudas -- that kind of player is out there. Rumblings in STL are that a guy like Jay Bouuwmeester might get bought out, and while he isn't the player he once was, a guy like that on the third pair is certainly an upgrade

I cannot believe, as well, that Neuvirth or Mrazek are going to be the No. 2 next year. And while backup goaltending is always a dicey proposition, I think we all can agree that the Flyers could get a bit more out of that slot

I just think they are gonna be even better next year, even if Giroux slides -- and people should be a little more forgiving when that happens as opposed to the last couple of years

Couldn’t quite for some reason, but just before rolling over and going to sleep, I read Flyernutters’ post where he called Manning and Gudas “the turd twins”. I laughed so hard, I was wide awake for another hour. Thanks a lot!😂

Sept 2015 - April 2018 is over 3.5 years?
So in Sept 2018 will it be over 4 years then?

Flip side of that: he had more goals than assists midway through the season. The assists picked up a lot when the line chemistry switched from the more playmaking oriented Voracek to the more shooting oriented Konecny.

I agree on G, man fans were pilling on. Other boards like csn and Philly.com it was real bad. What doesn’t get said is that G is an iron man, yeah people mention he was hurt but the guy plays through ever everything and in his worse season still carried the team.

I shared the same thoughts on Read, under 1 mil sign him, unless a rookie blows your doors off or there is a can’t miss deal out there. 3C, we discussed that yesterday, unless a vorboyev overwhelms in camp, they need to see what is out there. I love simmer and I hope he is the 1st star today and had a great playoff. On the other hand with Patrick and the prospects on the wing, plus 10 more picks, if you can package him up for a good 3 C, you look at it, real hard.

Add in G needs to shoot, best one timer on the team, he is just known for the assists
